Spoon River is a farm-to-fork-style restaurant located in historic downtown Belhaven, NC, situated just steps from the Pungo River, leading to the Pamlico Sound, in an area known as North Carolina's Inner Banks.
We strive to serve artful food and drinks in a unique environment. Our goal is to source as much of our menu locally and from the state of North Carolina as possible, from seafood to herbs to the alcohol behind the bar.
We happily welcome boaters en route along the east coast, as well as those boating in from Beaufort and Hyde Counties and the surrounding area. Whether you come by land or by sea, we'll give you an artful experience with southern hospitality.

Mark and Teresa Van Staalduinen are the owners behind Spoon River Artworks & Market. Since opening Spoon River in 2012, they’ve blended Teresa’s love of art and design with Mark’s farming roots and their shared passion for warm, personal hospitality, creating a distinctly Belhaven experience where local ingredients, artful food and drinks, and an ever-evolving, welcoming space come together.
